Ronny Tour

RONNY TOUR seemed to appear from nowhere, a former School of Arts student from Liverpool, who never has been seen on the music scene until in early 2010 he recorded two songs in a neighboring studio and uploaded them on myspace.

A brief e-mail to Haute Areal was convincing enough to invite him to Berlin an to get an impression of his live qualities -

and again on stage, he charmed with his charismatic voice and his guitar playing that is virtuosic on a nonchalant way.

RONNY TOUR is a folk singer who combines timeless songwriting with the essence of hip hop. It is not about chorus and c-parts, what rules is content and flow, expression, and reduction. The songs can tell stories that touch the listener on his very inside in just about a minute („Molly“), without any chorus appearing, that could color the sad conclusion conciliatory ("Home From Home") or dress a claustrophobic, surreal lone wolf into a four and a half minute sheep’s clothing with each chorus another nail to a coffin for confidence („Knockin on wood“).

With all the despair, we must not forget that about half of the tracks are love songs, which like the first single "In Love" are very much a rejection of reason and a monument to love.

RONNY TOUR is a rapper, freestyling with his tracks with an acoustic guitar directly into the camera of his laptop, which you can imagine figuratively with songs in mind such as "whistleblower". Hundreds of these little videos are stored on its hard drive, but he is not a producer fiddling about sounds in a homestudio, so it suggested itself to entrust someone with the production, who understands this music.

Johannes Stankowski, one half of the sadly defunct duo "Werle & Stankowski", recorded the album in the music club King George in Cologne that by the way offers, in addition to a tasteful booking, beautiful guestrooms with triangular mirrors.

The use of high-quality, pure analog recording equipment and effects and the very sparse arrangements give the songs the necessary space to shine with their entire depth.

RONNY TOUR is a mod, even though he might not like to hear it and he never actually wears a parka. A Scouser with an accent exceedingly rare, a fan of Everton FC, which can also be detected in his lyrics, which take up some props from football shanties or even specifically mention the stadium chants („...gwladys street was singing...“ – „In Love“).

A modern mod, who, if not more, then at least has brighter Adidas than Run DMC.
